9 Furniture Trends to Watch in 2024

One of our favorite parts of event planning is decorating the space in a way that really reflects our clients’ brand and vision. There’s something really exciting about seeing a space come to life from its initial stages of mood boards and inspo to being a physical space. A big part of our job is also staying up to date on the changing furniture trends, so we figured today we’d share what we think is in store for the rest of the year. Whether you’re planning an exhibit, setting up a booth, or simply staying ahead of the latest trends in event design, here are 9 furniture trends that are set to make waves in 2024:

1. Sustainability in Event Design:

Sustainability isn’t just a trend; it’s becoming a cornerstone of modern exhibit design. Over the last decade and especially in recent years, we’ve seen a growing emphasis on eco-conscious practices. We do our best to work with our clients on doing our part; reusing furniture when we can and sourcing furniture that’s sustainable. We expect to see more exhibitors opting for sustainable materials such as bamboo, recycled wood, and eco-friendly fabrics.

2. Tech-Integrated Furniture:

In an era of digital immersion, furniture with integrated technology is becoming increasingly prevalent in the event world. We truly love all of the ways that technology can help us enhance our clients’ booths and event spaces. From charging stations built into furniture to interactive touchscreens, we expect to see even more furniture that seamlessly blends form and function with technology.

3. Biophilic Design Elements:

Incorporating elements of nature into event spaces is a growing trend that’s set to continue in 2024. The use of natural materials, living walls, and organic shapes helps to create an inviting environment that resonates with attendees. We particularly love the look of living walls, and use it often to tie a space together and create a sense of the natural world in places where it otherwise wouldn’t be.

4. Retro Revival:

Nostalgia is a powerful force in design, and retro-inspired furniture and decor are making a comeback in event spaces. Think mid-century modern lounges, Art Deco-inspired bars, and vintage-themed seating areas that add a touch of charm and character to your space.

5. Statement Furniture Pieces + Decor:

Standout furniture pieces and decor that command attention are becoming increasingly popular at trade shows and event spaces. Whether it’s an oversized sofa, a bright mural, a sculptural chair, or a striking centerpiece table, these statement pieces add drama and visual interest to a design, helping you to capture the spotlight.

6. Minimalist Booth Designs:

As we stated above, we really do love working with bright colors, fun furniture and spaces that scream c r e a t i v i t y. But we’d be lying if we said we didn’t equally love a clean line. There is something so calming and aesthetically pleasing about understated elegance, neutral color palettes and a focus on functionality. Just as the minimalist aesthetic has been big with home decor (hello millennials everywhere), we definitely see the movement in the event space. Look out for furniture pieces with sleek profiles, soft colors and versatile styling that allows for modern and sophisticated spaces.

7. Customizable Exhibit Furniture:

Personalization is key to creating memorable experiences. When it comes to styling a booth or event space, the ability to customize furniture or decor is something we have seen for a long time, and for good reason. Pieces that can be customized with branded logos, interchangeable panels, and adjustable features allows you to create bespoke event spaces that reflect your brand identity and message. This isn’t a trend we ever see going away.

8. Texture + Tactility:

Texture plays a crucial role in creating sensory-rich environments that engage your attendees on a deeper level. Look for furniture pieces with textured fabrics, tactile finishes, and natural wood grains to add depth and visual interest to your space.

9. Cultural Fusion:

We’ve spoken before about the importance of global influences. More and more we’re seeing global influences shaping the landscape of event design. We love when furniture draws inspiration from diverse cultures and traditions. From ethnic patterns and artisanal craftsmanship to cultural motifs and vibrant colors, we expect to continue seeing furniture pieces that celebrate diversity and add so much to your event space.
