Project Overview
The Limited Run x Shopify Pop-Up in New York City was a two-day event designed and fabricated by us and aimed to blend the retro charm of the 90s with modern gaming culture. Held at Shopify's SoHo location on November 8th and 9th, 2024, the event brought together Limited Run's exclusive products with Shopify's e-commerce platform. This collaboration marked a return to a successful working relationship between us and Limited Run, having previously partnered on the Limited Run booth at PAX West earlier that year.
CHALLENGE
Create a visually cohesive, immersive space that celebrates 90s gaming while aligning with both Limited Run and Shopify’s brands.
OUTCOME
90’s Retro Living Room: A fully immersive, retro-styled living room furnished entirely by us. To stay true to the era, the team meticulously sourced thrifted goods—vintage furniture, neon-colored signs, vintage posters, VHS tapes, CDs, a Gameboy, and a Nintendo 64—to create an authentic 90’s vibe. Guests could relax, engage in nostalgia-driven activities, and play video games on an original 90's TV.
Gaming Area: Stations showcasing exclusive Limited Run games, offering attendees the chance to play retro favorites.
Merchandise Area: A curated retail space with exclusive Limited Run merchandise.
Retro TV Wall: A complex feature, requiring expert vendor coordination. We worked closely with a specialized vendor to source and modify vintage CRT TVs. After a detailed evaluation, the team created a dynamic setup with modern functionality—looping 90s content and incorporating a selfie station. The TVs were carefully delivered, installed, and tested a day before the event to ensure seamless operation throughout.
Meet & Greet Area: A special area for intimate sessions with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes (the iconic Jay & Silent Bob duo). This fan-favorite activation encouraged casual interactions and photo opportunities.
Event Success & Impact
The pop-up exceeded expectations with high foot traffic, social media engagement, and positive feedback. Limited Run successfully showcased their products in a visually captivating, interactive environment that resonated with both nostalgic fans and modern audiences.
