Project Overview

Burgess, a leader in luxury yacht brokerage and superyacht management, partnered with us (Reaction Space) to design exceptional event experiences for FLIBS 2024 and QUAIL 2024. The aim was to showcase their world-class yachts and services while creating sophisticated, yet relaxed environments that resonate with high-net-worth clients and industry professionals.

CHALLENGE

Burgess needed event spaces that exuded understated luxury and serenity, aligning with their brand values of craftsmanship and high-end service. The challenge was to design environments that not only highlighted their yachts but also encouraged meaningful, intimate conversations in a high-traffic setting, all while reflecting the tranquility of life aboard a superyacht.

OUTCOME

RS worked closely with Burgess to ensure each booth captured their brand essence. For both FLIBS and QUAIL, the design featured natural, earthy materials, an open layout, and seamless branding integration. Custom-designed pieces and a focus on high-quality materials helped to create tranquil, welcoming spaces where visitors could connect with the brand on a personal level.

Developing the Strategy

Blind’s Chief Strategist, Chris Do, sat down with CEO Mark Manansala and the team at SPJA (The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation), to craft the brand’s strategy for the upcoming Anime Expo 2017 event. Over a two-day facilitated session, Chris surfaced the challenges the organization faced. In the process, they prioritized the needs and goals of the business and its customers. This became the foundation for the branding and marketing plans for the 2017 event.

Natural, Earthy Materials:

The booths were crafted with warm wood paneling, light wood furniture, and soft, natural fabrics, with Burgess’ sky-blue logo subtly integrated. These materials evoked a sense of calm, echoing the peaceful luxury of life at sea.

Open, Breezy Layout:

The design emphasized spaciousness and fluidity, with wide aisles and open seating areas that allowed for comfortable movement and relaxed conversations. This layout fostered a calm, clutter-free environment where guests could explore and engage at their own pace.

Understated Branding

Burgess’ branding was carefully integrated through minimalist signage and logo placements that blended harmoniously with the natural elements, reinforcing their image of quiet sophistication.

Custom Design & Durability:

Careful attention was given to sourcing weather-proof materials and custom furniture, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and durability, especially for outdoor settings like FLIBS.
