What is FLIBS?

Every year, marine-industry professionals, luxury yacht makers, accessory brands, and lifestyle marketers converge on sunny South Florida * says a quiet prayer to the weather Gods that it will remain sunny * for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS).

According to the official site, FLIBS is “the largest in-water boat show in the world” with over 100,000 attendees, more than 1,000 exhibiting brands, and over 1,300 boats on display.

The 2025 show will run from October 29 – November 2 throughout the seven interconnected locations around Fort Lauderdale, including Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Las Olas Marina, Super Yacht Village, and Hall of Fame Marina. As FLIBS describes it, visitors get a chance to experience nearly 90 acres across three million square feet of exhibit space in a setting where luxury meets the sea.

In short, it’s a major global-industry event, part trade show, part luxury lifestyle showcase, part networking hub for serious marine business. And thanks to our clients exhibiting this year, we get to be there front and center.

A Voyage in Time: How FLIBS Got Started

Understanding the history of FLIBS helps exhibitors appreciate just how deeply established (and influential) the event really is.

  • The show traces its originsto the late 1950s. The first boat-show-type gathering in Fort Lauderdale was held in 1959 under the auspices of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF).
  • By the 1960s, the show’s scope grew beyond local dealers and began to attract international exhibitors. In 1967, the event officially adopted the “International” moniker.
  • Through the 1970s–1990s the show expanded significantly—more exhibitors, more models, larger audience.
  • In recent decades, FLIBS has matured into a major global showcase. To give you some scale: the 2024 show generated an economic impact of US $1.79 billionfor the state of Florida.
  • It has also embraced innovation, luxury, super yachts, and marine-lifestyle cross-overs—so it’s no longer just about boats, but about experiences, brand presence, debuts and network building.

Why Exhibitors Should Be There & Why Booth Design Matters

As a booth design and fabrication company, we at  Reaction Space see FLIBS as more than a show. It’s an experience, a high-stakes opportunity to tell your brand story in a sea of competition. We’re breaking down a few key reasons why exhibiting at FLIBS matters, and why howyou present your brand makes all the difference:

1. A global, high-value audience

  • The show draws over 100,000 visitors, nearly half from outsideFlorida. You’ll meet serious buyers, brokers, designers, and media from all over the world. Many attendees have serious intent; they are yacht buyers, brokers, charter firms, accessory brands, media. If you’re presenting a product or service in the marine / luxury / experiential space, this is a relevant audience.

2. It’s where brands make a splash

  • FLIBS is widely used for U.S. launches or world debuts of yachts, tenders, marine technology, and accessories.
  • Because the show has prestige, being present sends a signal: you’re serious, you’re part of the industry elite.

3. Connections that go beyond the dock

  • Beyond buyers, you’ll encounter designers, builders, service providers (tech, propulsion, interiors, toys), influencers, media, hospitality partners.
  • With so many different segments represented (super yachts, sport-fishing boats, accessories, electronics, sustainability tech) you can reach adjacent markets you might not normally.
  • For a booth builder/designer like us, it’s also a chance to showcase our own capabilities, meet new clients, and demonstrate that we can deliver demanding, high-value events.

4. Design that demands attention

  • Simply “having a booth” isn’t enough in this environment. Exhibitors need standout design, immersive experience, and functionality.
  • The visitors at FLIBS have high expectations; your booth needs to align with that caliber.
  • We believe the design, build, integration of experience (digital touch points, interactive elements, lighting, materials) can elevate your presence.
  • Also, the logistics in a marine / in-water show environment add complexity (docks, water access, transport, power, accessibility). Trust us when we say that having an experienced booth builder matters, unless you’re okay with your booth floating away.

5. The timing couldn’t be better

  • FLIBS takes place at a key moment in the season (late October/early November). It marks the transition into the “yachting season” in the Americas and positions you ahead of many holiday/charter cycles.
  • For brands looking to hit the U.S. market, or broaden international reach, it offers visibility when many decision-makers are looking ahead.

How An Experiential Marketing Agency Helps You Stand Out at FLIBS

At Reaction Space, we specialize in creating exhibits that don’t just fill a footprint, they leave one. Here’s how we help you shine at FLIBS:

  • Strategic concepting:We learn your goals, audience, and message, then craft a booth experience that speaks their language.
  • Marine-ready logistics:In-water shows come with their own quirks — docks, tides, power runs, humidity. We’ve built it all.
  • Experience-driven design:Think storytelling, lighting, and textures that invite people in and keep them talking.
  • End-to-end delivery:From design to build to teardown, we handle the details so you can focus on handshakes and champagne.
  • ROI-focused execution:Because every inch of your space should be working for you, not just looking pretty.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a yacht builder, tech innovator, or luxury brand, FLIBS offers unmatched visibility, and a chance to connect with an audience that’s both passionate and ready to invest.

Your booth is your stage, your handshake, your first impression.

We’ll be there this year (fingers still crossed for clear skies), standing alongside our clients in the custom-built spaces we’ve created to inspire, impress, and convert.
